Our Story

We were both seniors at Colby, a month from graduating, and had somehow never crossed paths in four years on a very small campus. A mutual friend — Gabriel's neighbor, Louisa's friend — threw a party for the sole purpose of fixing that. It worked. We were dating by April.

Louisa went home to Brooklyn, Gabriel to Connecticut, and for three years we traded weekends between the two. In between there was Italy, Squam, and Maine as often as we could.

Louisa adopted Dante in February. By the end of the summer we had finally moved in together in Brooklyn, all three of us.

On a trip back to Maine, Gabriel proposed on the beach where we'd had our first date five years earlier. He did, against all odds, manage to surprise her. She said yes.
